Welcome to the Mustech Wiki! This wiki was begun because of a conversation on the Teachers.net music teachers discussion board. Some of us decided we'd like a place to share our Smartboard lessons, and perhaps some other resources we use in our classrooms.

NAMM - International Association of Music Merchants

National Anthem Project, The - Sing America

The National Anthem Project is a campaign to get America singing "The Star-Spangled Banner," while spotlighting the important role music education plays in giving Americans our patriotic voice.


National Arts Education Public Awareness Campaign

Americans for the Arts and the Ad Council have partnered to create a multiyear national public service advertisement campaign to promote the need for more arts education opportunities for children. The campaign kicked off in January 2002, and it will educate parents on how the arts are essential to a child's development, and more importantly, identify ways for parents to ask for more art for their kids. Research in support of arts education, grants resources, tips on working with the media and decision-makers, and sample letters are included on the site.


National Board Certification Process - Discussion Group

This is a discussion group for music teachers that are going through the National Board Certification process.


National Endowment for the Arts

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is the largest annual funder of the arts in the United States. An independent federal agency, the National Endowment for the Arts is the official arts organization of the United States government. NEA is a public agency dedicated to supporting excellence in the arts - both new and established, bringing the arts to all Americans, and providing leadership in arts education. Links to resources, funding, a planning tool kit, national initiatives, NEA publications, and the NEA newsletter are included on the site.


National Music Council

The National Music Council represents the United States to the International Music Council/UNESCO. The Council acts as a clearinghouse for the joint opinion and decision of its members and is dedicated to strengthening the importance of music in our life and culture. The site includes PDF versions of the Education Advocacy Newsletter and links to sites that follow important legislative issues.


NCSLnet: State Legislatures Internet Links

Use the National Conference of State Legislatures search page to find links to your state legislature's web sites. To find contact information for your legislators, select your state from the left-hand menu and "legislators" from the right-hand menu, then hit the button. You may wish to contact your state legislators to voice your opinion on the value of music education, and you may want to encourage students and parents to do the same.


Nebraska Legislature Online

Nebraska Legislature Online offers an online magazine that keeps readers up-to-date on the happenings of the legislature (The link is at the bottom of the navigation in the first yellow box.), and UniCAM Live!, a feature that offers a live look at the legislature in action. There is a bill finder right on the home page, and BillTracker is available through the Legislative Documents link at the top of the blue navigation. You can find your senator under Senators & Districts, and see who holds what office under Offices (complete with contact information).


Nevada Legislature

Right from the home page (off to the right), visitors can listen to or view footage from current and past meetings. Personalized Bill Tracking is available, though only one of the five options is free. The other four require a per session fee, which varies depending on the amount of bills one chooses to track. The General Info link to the left of the home page has detailed contact information under Legislator Information. The Nevada Legislature was given the 1st place award for its web site from the Digital Legislatures Survey.


New Hampshire General Court

This web site has several broken links; however, the House and Senate links work. The House link offers streaming audio of the current session and past sessions, detailed contact information for legislators and representatives (There's even a section where the members with e-mail are listed in full.), and full committee details, including contact information for members. The Senate link offers various bill searches and detailed contact information of senate members, senate committee members, and senate staff. The Senate Newsroom keeps readers up-to-date with senate activities.


New Jersey Legislature

Right from the home page, you can view live or archived legislative proceedings and track bills with the site's free notification service. Off to the left is Senate Leadership contact information, under the Members section, as well as detailed information of the Legislative Roster.


New Mexico Legislature

The navigation to the left gives visitors full searching capabilities of the House Of Representatives, the Senate, and Former Legislators under Members. Under Legislation, visitors can find and watch bills for free (registration is required).

This page contains a fact sheet of information on the definition and qualifications for NCLB "highly qualified teachers." Also available in PDF format.


New York State Assembly

Live Audio and Video Coverage of the Assembly is available from the navigation on the left-hand side. There is a section dedicated to World Trade Center Information, and the Assembly Members section provides detailed information on assembly members, including contact information.

No Subject Left Behind PDF from The Arts Education Partnership

The No Subject Left Behind PDF document serves as a guide for state and local arts and education leaders to learn more about the federal No Child Left Behind Act and the multiple opportunities for arts education. It provides a brief overview of the legislation including where to find specific references to the arts, descriptions of individual programs with arts specific examples that have received funding, and links to web sites for additional information. North Carolina General Assembly

Audio of the House and Senate chambers is available right from the top of the home page. You can search for bills under Legislation, but there appears to be no automated bill tracking service, meaning one can manually look up bills, but that's the extent of it. The House and Senate links in the navigation provide detailed information about each, respectively, such as e-mail addresses of all legislators, senate and house member lists, and the senate and house calendar.


North Dakota Legislative Branch

From the home page, at the right-hand side, there is a link titled "Floor Sessions" that provides visitors with House and Senate audio feeds and a live webcast of floor sessions, when appropriate. Also from the home page, the "more about legislators" link at the right takes you to a detailed list of the senators and representatives in all 47 districts (complete with contact information), and the "more about 2005 legislation" link just below that allows visitors to inquire about bills, reviews bills and resolutions, and view daily calendars. More detailed information about the senate and house can be obtained by clicking on the Legislative Assembly link at the top of the page. From here, choose 59th (2005) from the Assembly Links at the left.

Ohio General Assembly

Right from the home page, visitors can locate their legislators and check up on current legislation. In the gray box at the top of the page, Session Video is available, and visitors can Search For Legislative Information such as bills. In the second row of the navigation box, there is contact information for The Ohio House Of Representatives and The Ohio Senate, respectively, as well as links to the web site for each.


Oklahoma Legislature

Following the Senate Home Page link (at the right of the main home page) offers visitors Bill Tracking services (though this feature does not appear to be automated) and audio and video feeds of Senate proceedings. All other information about the Senate, such as contact information for Senate Members and Meeting Notes, can be obtained directly below the Senate Home Page link on the main home page.

Following the House Home Page link at the left of the main home page offers visitors more detailed information on the Oklahoma House, such as bill information, but does not offer bill tracking or audio and video feeds. All other information about the House, such as contact information for House Members and Meeting Notes, can be obtained directly below the House Home Page link on the main home page.


OMA: Opening Minds Through The Arts

The Opening Minds Through The Arts (OMA) mission is to improve student achievement by building connections between the arts and the core curriculum. The site offers examples of music-integrated program models and research in support of music education. OMA is local program based in Tucson, Arizona, but might serve as an example for other schools.


Online Sunshine (Florida)

Use this site to find contact information for Florida's senators and representatives, to find out about state laws, and to follow legislative proposals. Go to the "House" or "Senate" to search for bills or find contact information for legislators. A link at the bottom of the House and Senate pages lets you "View live and archived video of Senate and House Chamber action." From the House page, click "My House" to open an account and track bills and statutes.


Oregon State Legislature

The main site navigation (in the yellow box and the top of the page) takes visitors to Audio/Video feeds (complete with archived sessions), and to detailed bill information under Bills/Laws. From the Bills/Laws section, a search feature is available (from the text links underneath the page header) but no bill tracking. Contact information for the Senate can be found under Senator Information, and under Representative Information for the House.


Parents' Music Room - BBC

The site offers a practical guide to give parents the confidence to support their child's music development and music education, with helpful tips on things they can do. Sections include "Why Music Matters," "Every Parent Can Help," and "Getting the Best out of School." National Curriculum information pertains to England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland only.


Pennsylvania General Assembly

All bill information can be found under the Legislation heading on the home page by clicking on the Session Information link. On the page that follows, there is a link to Bill Tracking Reports underneath the search box in the right-hand row at the bottom. At the top of the Session Information page, the Daily Session Activity EMails link will take you to a page where you can subscribe to Daily Session Activity EMails and Individual Bill Updates (registration is required for both).

Under the main Senate link at the top of the page, one can find senator contact information and more. The main House link provides much of the same information.


PianoNet.com

The National Piano Foundation coordinates and implements programs and activities that encourage more active piano participation, as well as serve and strengthen the piano community.
